Interior Design Proposal Template

An interior design proposal has to explain two things clients often don't know to ask about: what each phase includes, and how furnishings are bought and paid for. This template covers design from first measure to install day, sets out procurement plainly, and offers three ways to work together.

Thank you for welcoming us into your home. This proposal sets out the rooms we'll design, how we'll work from first measure to install day, how furnishings are ordered, and three ways to work together.

The Project

[Describe the rooms and the brief, for example: the living room, dining room, and primary bedroom of a 1920s house, keeping the original millwork, with a calm, layered look that works for two young children.]

How We Work

1. Discovery and measure. We visit to measure and photograph each room, talk through how you live in the space, and agree on a budget for furnishings.

2. Concept design. Mood boards, a color palette, and furniture layouts for each room, presented together so you can see how the rooms work as a whole.

3. Design development. Specific selections for furniture, lighting, window treatments, rugs, and finishes, with prices, in a presentation you approve room by room.

4. Procurement. We order, track, and receive everything you approve, inspect it for damage, and keep you updated on lead times.

5. Installation and styling. On install day we place every piece, hang art, and style the rooms, so you come home to finished spaces.

Procurement

With full service, furnishings are ordered through us at trade pricing, with a 20% purchasing fee on the net cost. We'll send a proposal for each group of items, and order once you approve it and pay. Custom and made-to-order pieces can't be returned or cancelled once ordered. Lead times are set by each maker, and we'll keep you updated on every order. Freight, delivery, and sales tax are billed at cost.

Timeline

Concept design is ready about four weeks after discovery, and selections about four weeks after that. Most furnishings arrive 8 to 16 weeks after ordering, so we schedule installation once everything is in hand.

What We Need From You

  • Access to the home for measuring, deliveries, and installation
  • Decisions on each presentation within one week, so orders aren't delayed
  • Any contractors' work finished before installation day

Payment Terms

50% of the design fee is due on signing, 25% at concept approval, and 25% on approval of the selections. Procurement management and installation are billed when we place the first order. Invoices are due within 15 days.

Acceptance
